Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt has been found guilty in connection with India’s deadliest series of bomb attacks.
Dutt, 47, was convicted of possessing illegal firearms but cleared of conspiracy in the 1993 Mumbai attacks. He will be sentenced at a later date. Dutt was acquitted on four more serious counts, including being part of the wider conspiracy behind the bomb attacks and trying to destroy evidence. He denied those charges but admitted possessing the weapons, saying they were to protect his family.
Its been more than ten years since this case has been dragging on in the Indian courts, and they’ve finally come to a decision regarding Sunjay Dutt’s involvement in the case, but honestly – the repercussions of this verdict will not be good, for both Bollywood and the Muslim population of India.
Why muslim population would get affected if some 100 people are convicted/ acquitted in some case?
Shibu Soren, a minister was convicted few days ago, Sidhu an MP was convicted a couple of days ago. Many rich guys died in Indian jails (Harshad Mehta, Rajan Pillai). Bharat Shah, a diamond trade worth few billions (indian rs) was in jail for almost 1 yr.
Indian Judiciary system isn’t that weak/ bad.
Finding a reason for every crime commited and asking for clemency on that grounds will render courts and constitution useless.
And pls don’t mention babri. It’s in courts, and possibly advani will be convicted. In India, justice isn’t communal, yet atleast.
Yes, we do have Narendra Modi and his ilk. See what happened to BJP at national level. Why is that not happening in Gujarat. Probably because his positives outweigh negatives. And not because, he is butcher of some religion.
Indians are no paragons of virtue. It’s just that, they aren’t suicidal. When things go to extreme, they know how to restore balance. The freedom, sensibility of democracy will always prevail over any form of fundamentalism, majority or minorty owned.
