Pakistan’s COAS Kayani has warned US troops to stay out of the country saying “There is no question of any agreement or understanding with the coalition forces whereby they are allowed to conduct operations on our side of the border”, but lo andĀ behold, according to a NYT report, US President George Bush has allowed American Special Operations forces to carry out ground assaults inside Pakistan without the prior approval of the Pakistani government.
Who does one believe anymore?

how about believing the current president authorised it as prt of deal? “let mush go. i’ll give you authority,. that kayani thing is nothing”
I don’t see any contradiction between the two positions. Kayani is saying that neither he nor the government of Pakistan have allowed this. The Americans are saying “Ok, you may not have allowed it, but we’re going to do it anyway.” Both statements are honest reflections of their respective positions.
