Corps Commander Lahore Lt-Gen Shafaat Ullah Shah has been posted as Chief of Logistic Staff (CLS) at the General Headquarters whereas Lt-Gen Ijaz Ahmed Bakhshi has been posted as Corps Commander Lahore.
Corps Commander Mangla Lt-Gen Sajjad Akram has been posted as Deputy Chairman Erra whereas Lt-Gen Nadeem Ahmed has been posted as Corps Commander, Mangla, said an ISPR statement issued here on Monday.
Lt-Gen Shujaat Zamir Dar has been posted as Director General, Weapons and Equipment, General Headquarters. DG NAB Major General Mukhtar Ahmed has been posted as director general in the General Headquarters.
Maj-Gen Muhammad Rehan Burney has been promoted as Lt-Gen and appointed Surgeon General Pakistan Army, Director General Medical Services (Inter-Services). He did his MBBS from King Edward Medical College and joined the Pakistan Army in 1977. He is a renowned urologist. He has been commandant Armed Forces Institute of Urology. Presently he is director-general Surgery at the Medical Directorate. He has vast teaching experience related to his own profession.
However, the Daily Telegraph says ‘the two senior corps commanders could have provided significant political support for the president, and that the removal of the two commanders reaffirmed COAS Gen Kiani’s pledge to withdraw the army from politics after eight years of military rule under Mr Musharraf’.
